I’m torn on the issue of selling wine in super markets. Obviously I’m all for 1) better selection, 2) lower prices, and 3) more “convenience”. However, I’m guessing that the supermarket chains aka the Golub family have better lobbyists than independent wine stores. Unless the liquor laws are significantly changed to allow wine and liquor merchants to have multiple locations this bill seems unfair. That said, NY has a $13 billion budget deficit so I’m guessing we’ll be screwing independent merchants in favor of the Golub family.
